Long Term Volunteering Opportunities

Education Director – 6 months plus

We need an experienced person to oversee the day to day running of our easy English language programme. The programme has been developed by volunteers for delivery by volunteers, many of whom do not hold a qualification, so much of the challenge will revolve around managing an ever changing team of volunteers. Inter personal and people management skills are as important as an understanding of teaching second languages and methodologies. The programme has been run very successfully for some time now with amazing results. We are expanding the programme into a number of outreach projects so the Education Director will be involved in setting up and implementing the programme at  locations around Siem Reap Province and training Khmer volunteers and Khmer staff.

Community Development Programme Director – 6 months plus

Working with the Education Director to help set up and oversee a new project developing play and education opportunities in outlaying villages around the Siem Reap area. A background in play development or Community development will be helpful. The project will be staffed by volunteers so strong interpersonal and management skills are needed. Stage 1 of the project will be a play truck visiting villages once a week delivering a programme of play, sports and English language teaching. We will be looking to involve the local community with the aim of opening community centres that can continue and expand on the work of the play truck. As each community centre becomes self sufficient the play truck will cease visiting and move on to repeat the process at a new village.

Vocational Training School Skills Instructors – 6 months plus

Are you qualified in a trade or skill that can be passed onto young Cambodian’s to help them get work? If so we can use you help. We are setting up a vocational training Centre to deliver training across a range of work including plumbing, carpentry, electrics, construction, motor mechanics etc. We need to hear from anyone interested in becoming an instructor who could help us start this project. Business experience would also be another helpful skill as many of these young people will want to start their own business and will need help with skills such as accountancy/bookkeeping and management.
